Paws, Inc. Awards Garfield Licensing Agreement for Next Garfield DVD Release

Destination Software, Inc. to Publish Video Games for Garfield Gets Real

NEW JERSEY (June 10, 2007)—Paws, Inc. and Destination Software Incorporated (DSI) today announced a partnership to license and distribute video games for the upcoming DVD release Garfield Gets Real. The “Garfield Gets Real” video games, which will coincide with the film’s November release, will be available for the portable Nintendo DS™ and Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo.

Garfield is back with a new look in his first all computer-generated film. Tired with his routine as a comic strip star, Garfield escapes the page and heads into the “real world.” While living the low-key life of a real housecat, he learns his comic will be cancelled if he doesn’t return before the newspaper goes to print. The video games will follow the storyline as Garfield plows through obstacles to make his way back home.

“Is it wrong for an adult man to play video games? I hope not, because I can’t wait for this one to come out,” said Garfield cartoonist Jim Davis. “The story behind Garfield Gets Real really lends itself to video game play, especially since there’s such a fun contrast between ‘the cartoon world’ and ‘the real world.’”

“The changes in the video game platforms in the last few years have brought casual video gamers back as a substantial portion of the business,” says DSI’s Vice President, Steve Newton. “The classic Garfield characters appeal to everyone, and the “Garfield Gets Real” games will be a creative and engaging means to bring Garfield fans a new way to appreciate the most famous cartoon cat.”

The deal between DSI and Paws, Inc. was facilitated by DSI’s licensing agent, 360ep, Inc.

About Garfield
GARFIELD was born on the comics pages on June 19, 1978. The mastermind of cartoonist Jim Davis, GARFIELD is a humor strip centered around the lives of a fat, lazy, cynical orange cat who loves lasagna, coffee, and his remote control; his owner, the long-suffering Jon Arbuckle; and Odie, a sweet but dumb dog. GARFIELD was introduced to the world in just 41 newspapers but quickly became the fastest growing and most widely syndicated comic strip ever. Today, the strip appears in over 2570 newspapers and is read daily by 263,000,000 people around the globe. The success of the comic strip spawned a popular animated TV show, “Garfield & Friends,” which appeared on CBS-TV from 1988 to 1995, and is currently in worldwide syndication. Additionally, Garfield has starred in two feature films, Garfield: The Movie (2004) and Garfield’s A Tail of Two Kitties (2006).   Garfield also takes center stage on his entertainment web site, www.garfield.com.
