CENTURY CITY, CA.Garfield is up to some frisky business in his brand new all-computer-generated feature film Garfield Gets Real arriving on DVD November 20th from Fox Home Entertainment. Fans can see Garfield, Odie and their pals like never before when the lasagna-loving feline – having grown bored with his life inside a comic strip – decides to venture out into the “real world” in a wild and wacky adventure written by Garfield creator Jim Davis. Realizing that his comic strip will be cancelled unless he can make it back into the cartoon world before the next edition is published, Garfield embarks on a perilous journey back onto the page while evil forces challenge his every turn.

A truly successful brand and enduring icon, Garfield is the most widely syndicated comic strip in the world with over 263 million readers daily and has sold more than six million DVDs to date. The Garfield Gets Real DVD features over 20 minutes of bonus features offering inside views on comic strip production and animation in the featurettes Pencil, Paws and Ink: Creating the Garfield Comic Strip, The Making of Garfield Gets Real,The Voices of Garfield Gets Real and Storyboards with Narration by Jim Davis. Additionally, the DVD will feature three all-new games, “Whack-A-WaWa” and “Punt The Pooch” and “Don’t Be Late” and will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.98 U.S. / $21.98 Canada. MARKETING SUPPORT:

Fox Home Entertainment will support the DVD release of Garfield Gets Real with a comprehensive marketing campaign featuring national cable and network television advertising, in-school programming and online advertising and database outreach. The release will also be supported by an extensive publicity campaign. Additionally, Fox Home Entertainment partnered with KFC for the Garfield Gets Real DVD release. The highlight of the partnership is an exclusive laptop Garfield Gets Real meal box, custom designed for KFC and distributed at 5,000 locations nationwide. In addition to DVD signage and décor at individual store locations, KFC will also fully integrate Garfield Gets Real on their Web site’s kids’ page, generating approximately 105,000 hits.

Paws, Incorporated has also created an interactive Web site for Garfield Gets Real, which provides weekly updates and news all about the new movie. Garfield fans can download screensavers and wallpapers, find out more about the cast and characters, play the all new online game “Escape from Hotel Muncie,” watch trailers and view unique Garfield Gets Real extras like production notes, production sketches and exclusive images.

SYNOPSIS:

Garfield is back with a new look in his first all computer-generated film. Tired with his routine as a comic strip star, Garfield escapes the page and heads into the “real world.” While living the low-key life of a real house cat, he learns his comic will be cancelled if he doesn’t return before the newspaper goes to print, but no character who has escaped to the real world has ever returned. To complicate the situation, evil forces are blocking his path back to Cartoon World!
