GARFIELD II: A TAIL OF TWO KITTIES, NOW IN PRODUCTION

The sequel to the $198 million blockbuster, Garfield: The Movie is now in production! The fat cat will reign again in GARFIELD'S A TAIL OF TWO KITTIES projected to make its mark in theaters summer 2006.

Bill Murray, the highly acclaimed actor and comedian, will return as the voice of Garfield.

Twentieth Century Fox and Davis Entertainment signed Tim Hill to direct Garfield's highly anticipated return to the silver screen. Hill's directing credits include Max Keeble's Big Move and Muppets in Space. He was also a writer on Nickelodeon Films’ SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and has writing, directing, and producing credits for Nickelodeon for One Hundred Deeds of Eddie McDowd and Action League Now. At Comedy Central, Hill was the writer-director of the half-hour comedy Exit 57.

Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow, who wrote GARFIELD: THE MOVIE and Toy Story, are back on board to continue the story of Garfield, Odie, and Jon in their next cinematic undertaking, and, John Davis  (Garfield: The Movie, Dr. Doolittle 1 and 2, Daddy Day Care) returns to take the reins for the production of the film.

In his all-new movie adventure, Garfield follows his owner, Jon, to England — the land of the royals — where Garfield is mistaken for a noble cat who has inherited a castle. Garfield savors the royal treatment afforded by his loyal subjects, including an eager-to-please butler, a (very) English bulldog, a duck, hare, goose, bull, ferret – and a Shakespeare-quoting mouse. However, Garfield’s reign is in jeopardy. The nefarious Lord Dargis is determined to do away with Garfield, so he can turn the castle into a resort. Meanwhile, Garfield’s royal double, Prince XII — the castle’s true master — has surfaced and made his way back home. Garfield and Prince, along with faithful pooch Odie and the castle’s menagerie; join forces to save the castle and thwart Dargis’ plans.

Once again, the film will mix CGI technology (Rhythm & Hues) with live-action performances by Breckin Meyer, resuming his role as Garfield’s long-suffering owner, Jon Arbuckle, and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising her role as veterinarian Liz Wilson, Jon’s love-interest.

Actor, writer, and top United Kingdom comedian Billy Connolly, star of Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Still Crazy, and The Last Samurai, plays a key role, that of Lord Dargis.
